The fate of electric cars seems to be sparking still and not completely gone. This is primarily because soon enough, electric cars would again be on the streets and roads. Well, not exactly for every day use and for ownership, but at least, they would be used by world leaders of leading industrialized countries and democracies. Maybe there is hope, after all.

These leaders would include those who lead countries like the United States, Russia, Britain, France, Japan, Germany, Canada, as well as Italy. They would be using the electric cars during the G8 Summit. This summit would be held this summer, July 15th to the 17th in St. Petersburg, Russia. GEM electric vehicles would be the ones to be used by these country leaders. And in part of such a big event, the government of Russia under the supervision of their president, Vladimir Putin, took part of the budget to purchase thirty GEM electric vehicles which could take in four passengers inside its cabin these vehicles are also called as e4. They also made sure that each of the vehicles is personalized. They would be putting the participating countrys official logo as well as flag on the GEM electric vehicle.

GEM and e4 vehicles are created Global Electric Motors, LLC. Rick Kasper is its president and chief operating officer. He states, GEM electric vehicles will offer the participating leaders with an environmentally-friendly transportation option while attending the G8 summit. It is an honor for GEM to be participating in this important international event for the second time. Indeed, the first time GEM took part in such a grand event was back in 2004 during that years G8 Summit which was held in Sea Island, Georgia.

What is good about GEM electric vehicles is that it has zero emissions. It also is clean and provides a ride that is quiet and very efficient. It also is affordable compared to using the usual kinds of vehicles.

Every business needs to keep an eye on their operating expenses when it comes to turning a profit. This includes such things as electricity, rent, and in many cases, fuel costs. Regardless of the size of your business, the rising cost of gas is sure to affect your bottom line. When your business is a freight or delivery service that is dependent on the use of many vehicles, why not maximize your profits by downsizing your fuel costs?

Having your drivers and vehicles equipped with special gas cards can mean the difference between being profitable and simply surviving. Therefore, it is crucial that you keep track of how much gas your drivers and vehicles are using. Decreased gas mileage can be a sign of a vehicle in need of repairs, or possibly even fraudulent activity on the part of your employees. By making use of a gas card you can be protected against fluctuations in gas prices. As some places have price differences for gas, your drivers may be caught unaware if they only carry cash to buy gas. By using the gas card, theyre always ready and able to buy the gas, no matter how much the price fluctuates from place to place. Not to mention that you are able to pre-plan your route based on designated filling stations associated with your card.

By having one simple gas card that is designated specifically for the purchase of fuel, you can very easily track the amount of gas consumed by your vehicles and at what price for which the gas was bought. These credit cards are sometimes also associated with reward points programs that allow you to save up points earned by purchasing gas and trade them in for prizes or services. Even a small business can rack up considerable points over the course of a year by simply buying the gas they need to buy anyway with a single gas card. The most common reward thats offered is, of course, free gas or a discounted rate on the gas purchase. The gas company sometimes credits the business account for the rebate and other times offers the actual reward certificate through the mail.

The ability of the business owner to keep all receipts for fuel purchased by different members of the same organization on one simple account is a very attractive feature. The statement that one receives every month has all the purchases recorded and also has a running total so you can compare the previous months purchases to the present statement. Many gas companies offer special loyalty programs for their customers or reward them for using the credit card a certain number of times over the course of a year. This is a loyalty program and is a lot like a points reward program. They want their customers to always return to their station to buy their gas and they like to reward this form of loyalty with special prizes or discounts. Lower interest rates are sometimes used as incentives to get customers to use the card more often during slower periods of consumption. Therefore, having your drivers make use of gas cards can save money and lead to better fleet management.

Heat is the arch-enemy of any motor. This is the main reason why intercoolers are a vital part of any turbo kit. An intercooler is essentially a radiator tuned for high-volume flow rates and the increasing density of the charge as it cools. Lower air intake temperatures are safer for the motor, making air-to-air or air-to-liquid intercoolers vitally important. It is also crucial that they are mounted, so as to maximize air flow and promote efficient cooling.

The range of forced induction and the presence of spent exhaust gasses cause motors to generate enormous amounts of heat. An intercooler uses ambient air temperatures in the front of the moving vehicle to chill a core. The intake air temperature drops as the forced air from the turbo passes through this core. The resulting compressed air allows more air volume to enter the motor. The more air you can compress while keeping it at the same relative PSI, the more air you can force into your motor-providing more power and efficiency.

A cooler engine will exhibit extended longevity and generate more horsepower. In addition, an intercooler protects against the expanding or warping of internal motor parts, which can lead to internal damage. Reducing the heat also decreases the tendency of the combustion process to knock (detonation).

An air-to-liquid intercooler uses ice water or coolant-rather than air-to keep the core cool. Cooler temperatures can be achieved in this way, making air-to-liquid intercoolers a popular option in the racing world. The limitations on the volume of ice water that can be stored and circulated make it practical only for short durations, so air-to-air intercoolers are more common.

EPS Turbos is here to help you decide what’s right for you and your car, while making sure you get only the best performance engine parts and service available. We support and carry the most reliable product line to ensure your ride is tight. Find the intercooler or other components you need right online, and place your order today. Dont forget youre the owner of that wonderful Chevrolet Venture; so get a nice grip on the only thing that would get it moving your key. I am a proud owner of this great model, and this Chevrolet Venture keychain is a perfect companion reminding me constantly the answer to the question Which one is yours in this sea of parked cars?

Keys are designed to keep our valuables safe. But losing our key is as annoying as having our stuff stolen sometimes. Owning a Chevy Venture makes me proud with this badge a leather keychain with a round silver plate engraved with the model name. It reflects my cars personality (and my own, too!). When this treasured possession got lost, I felt like I went to hell in a week.

Before, I had no trouble explaining to a car park attendant which car is mine because my keychain has the exact model of my car engraved in it. By just a mention of the approximate location, like It is parked in the second row next to the south entrance and I am pretty sure he would find it very quickly. Within that week, I had this bad experience giving the car attendant my duplicate key attached to a Mitsubishi keychain. The parking attendant gave me a sharp, suspicious look. I nearly lost my cool to tell him, Dont look at me like that! I have all the registrations papers here!

When the thought of finding a replacement came to me, I Google-searched the item and my eyes immediately caught the image of a fine black leather keychain featuring my Chevy Venture. Its a not-so-exact replica of the one Ive lost, it being slightly smaller at three inches tall and 1 14 inches wide. It still features the Chevrolet logo and the model name Venture highlighted atop a silver round plate with a shiny white plastic backdrop.

Every time I remember my experience which the car park attendant, my hands are moving involuntarily to tap my pockets. I am glad my new keychain is still there.

Heres another funny anecdote to make you value your keychain more: I had a dinner with my boss in restaurant downtown when it rained like Noahs time. We parked his car right in front of the restaurant. Trapped in the rain after the sumptuous meal, we were forced to wait at the already jam-packed lobby for about an hour. We do not have umbrellas because these were left inside the car. My poor boss is already fuming mad, ran to his car with a plastic folder on top of his head. He was already soaking wet, and yet he cant open the door. When he came back to where I was waiting, he was laughing loudly and I thought he had gone crazy. He whispered to me, Oh my God! What would have happened if the owner of that car saw me? I might have spent the night in jail. Our ride is behind the car I was trying to open like a thief.

When hybrid cars first hit the market, they were touted as the vehicle that was going to take us into the future. Finally, every science fiction writers dream had come true a fuel-efficient car. Why, then, isnt a hybrid car in every drivers garage? The answer to that is simple, and it has to do with human nature.

You may think that since hybrid cars and other more fuel-efficient models have failed to become omnipresent, something strange is going on. Some people assumed that the technology would be in wide use once it was available because it made sense for the environment. These cars were good for us. Therefore, we would use them, right?

Beets are good for us too, but think about how many people eat fries and cheeseburgers instead of beets. Fast food is more pleasant and its more convenient. When you keep this idea in mind, the reason why gasoline-powered vehicles are still so popular begins to make sense.

Manufacturers have a particular infrastructure set up to produce a certain type of vehicle. To change this infrastructure would mean refurbishing factories, which would take a lot of money. In addition, manufacturers arent sure that, if they did refurbish their factory, the models they made would sell well. No businessperson in his right mind throws away successful products to rely on something untried in the marketplace.

For another thing, the consumer has a particular way of behaving. He understands gasoline-powered cars. Perhaps he doesnt want to spend the time researching how to fuel and care for a hybrid car. With every new bit of technology, there is a learning curve. Like the fast-food eater who doesnt want to take the time to prepare beets and make them tasty, the consumer simply wants to do what is easiest and most convenient, not to mention what is the least expensive.

There is another thing that needs to be taken into consideration as well why people purchase cars to begin with. Human nature is not always straightforward. People do not purchase cars to get from Point A to Point B. If that were the case, we would all be driving basic-model cars. We don’t drive these cars, though, because we purchase cars to gain prestige. There is no prestige to be had from driving a hybrid. There is plenty of prestige to be had from driving a Mustang, however.

There is most likely a place for hybrid automobiles in our future, but change will be slow. Automobile makers will have to be sure the cars will sell. That means people will have to start demanding the hybrid cars already on the market, and they wont do that until the cars become easy to deal with, cheap and prestigious. Hybrid cars arent in everyones driveways because they dont satisfy those three core needs that human beings associate with vehicles. Until that happens, hybrids will stay on the periphery of the market.

One of the major problems that classic car owners have is that they have a hard time locating the right kind of auto parts or replacement parts for their vehicle. This is mainly because most auto parts stores at present offer only auto parts for the most popular vehicle makes and models as well as the auto parts for the newest cars in the market. They do not take into consideration that there are still old cars still alive and working that also need some auto parts replacements.

So how do you find that elusive auto part for your car?

Join Auto Clubs
You can try joining auto clubs and ask around with other members who own the same vehicle as you. That way, you can ask them where they get their replacement parts. You can search for such auto clubs using car magazines or you can search through the Internet for them.

Be An Online Hunter
Take full advantage of what the Internet has to offer. You can exhaust all search engines for auction sites or online bulletin boards. Many stores or sources of auto parts replacements for classic or old cars advertise their products online. Put these sites in your archives so you can visit them regularly and check for updates. Or, you can also contact these sources yourself and ask them if they can get the auto part that you want for you.

Be A Scarp Yard Scavenger
On one of your spare and free days, you can take a dive to a local scrap yard. Many owners of classic cars share that they are able to look for good replacement parts for their classic vehicles from scrap yards. They do maintain though that you should be patient enough to go through the stack of cars at these scrap yards.

The Mercury Mariner Hybrid has been created by the Ford Motor Company so as to be able to build a better world. In fact, build a better world are the exact words used by the company upon describing the Mercury Mariner Hybrid. And one of the latest models for this vehicle has been refreshed especially for this year.

A combination of gasoline power plus electric power is what makes the 2006 Mercury Mariner Hybrid run. In fact, this kind of technology is also used in the Ford Escape Hybrid which has already gained fame and fortune in the auto world. The platform from which the Mercury Mariner Hybrid was built on is the same as that of the Ford Escape Hybrid. Though there are some Mercury motor parts that could also be used on other vehicles, there are still specific auto parts made especially for this green and environment friendly vehicle.

Sport utility vehicles are known to be gas guzzlers and also have been famous for being belchers. But not the Mercury Mariner Hybrid. This vehicle might be an SUV but it can run on the most inexpensive fuels and would also have less harmful emissions. The engine for this automobile is a 2.3 liter DOHC Duratec I4 gas engine which has been crafted using aluminum. Every part of it is made from this material.

What is exciting and new for the Mercury Mariner Hybrid is that when it is just coasting, the engine will automatically shut down. This function also turns on during stoplights or when stuck in heavy and slow moving traffic jams. And with that, the results are great benefits for 2006 Mercury Mariner Hybrid owners. They are able to save much on fuel expenses. And the environment also benefits much from the cleaner emissions that the vehicle spews off.

Have you ever wondered about the differences in the tastes of men and women when it comes to cars? Clearly, men prefer cars that look tough and masculine and ooze power while women prefer cars that are cute and stylish, right? Well, thats true to a certain extent, according to a recent study on car ownership between the sexes. However, what may be surprising to some is that there are areas of common interest between men and women and that both actually share a liking for the same favorite cars.

According to registration records for new 2005 and 2006 car models (January 2006 to the present), men love luxurious, high performance cars, preferably with a horsepower of 367 or more. On the other hand, women prefer cars that are affordable, practical and safe. They also put a premium on design flair in their cars as evidenced by the popularity of the Eclipse Spyder convertible, which had the highest percentage of female registrants of any car on the market. The preferred horsepower for the womens cars were way below the standards of men, with the top five models having only an average 172 hp compared to 367 hp in the mens favorites. It was just like you expected, right?

It was interesting to see the Mitsubishi Eclipse Spyder on top of the list of womens favorite cars. If you take a good look at it, it does somehow seem like a feminine-looking car. But hold it. The Eclipse Spyder also happens to be the car of choice among 34.2% of male registrants. In fact, the study showed that registration records indicate that men sometimes buy feminine cars but women rarely purchase male-oriented, testosterone-fueled sports and luxury cars.

The thing is, what really makes a feminine car? I mean, I always considered the Mitsubishi Eclipse Spyder to be a masculine car ever since I first saw it in the 2003 movie “2 Fast 2 Furious,” particularly since it belonged to the angry, muscular ex-convict played by Tyrese Gibson.

The next popular cars for women were the Toyota RAV4 sport utility vehicle (SUV) and another Mitsubishi favorite, the hardtop Eclipse coupe. The mens favorites were the Honda Acura NSX sports car and DaimlerChrysler’s Mercedes-Benz S55 AMG performance sedan.

We all have the same goal when it comes to buying a car and making sure we get the most possible for our trade-in.

At the least, we want to make sure that we’re not being taken advantage of.

So, with the advent of the internet and the myriad of car information now available to us, we point ourselves over to Kelley Blue Book to find this all-important value.

Later, when we’re actually negotiating with a Dealer, we find it’s not quite this easy. The Dealer’s trade-in figure is lower than the one we got from the internet.

So, we whip it out and ask for an explanation, and rightfully so.

The truth of the matter is that a vehicle’s “trade-in value” is not a number that is simply black and white. It’s quite “gray” actually.

You see, it’s not unlike valuing your own home. What is your home worth? Well, you can get a ballpark idea … maybe a general price range. But a precise and fair figure? Nope.

Why? Because there are a number of other factors that determine “value”.

What have similar homes (or cars) sold for recently? How long did it take them to sell? Is demand currently strong? Weak? Somewhere in between? What’s the premium currently being paid for extra features such as a pool or a shed (sunroof or leather)?

A Dealer tries to access such issues, and of necessity, “opinion” and “subjectiveness” are going to play a significant role. And much the same way as having your house appraised for a loan, you’ll get different answers from different “experts”.

Another factor is very fluid. The Dealer will certainly check what similar vehicles have sold for at the wholesale, Dealer-Only car auctions. Have there been a lot of them? Did the bidding of other Dealers indicate local Dealer demand?

What could he buy this same car for at the auction? If he’s unable to sell it, what price would he likely get for it at the auction? Does he have other similar vehicles in stock that have been difficult to sell?

And then, whatever figure the Dealer comes up with, he’s going to reduce it a bit further to reduce the risk he’s taking in investing in your car. He doesn’t want to lose the profit he’s making on your new car when selling or disposing of your trade-in.

So what’s a consumer left to do? Well, unfortunately, it’s negotiate, negotiate, negotiate … as unpleasant as it is.
The best alternative, however, is to sell the car on your own. Although this takes additional time and effort, it is often well worthwhile.

One way to do this is actually very simple: just put a “For Sale” sign in your back window. We’ve seen this for years, but now that virtually everyone has a cell phone, it often works quite quickly.

Another alternative is to list your vehicle online since people shop for cars on the internet now far more now than reading newspaper classified ads. High traffic sites such as AutoTrader or Cars.com charge in the 40 to 70 range and usually the ad runs until the vehicle is sold.

We are all concerned about the environment and doing our part to take care of it. Of all the purchases we make, the purchase that will have the greatest impact on the environment will be the car we decide to buy. Hybrid cars are an affordable and innovative way to help protect our environment and benefit from the increased fuel mileage.

Only a few years ago talk of hybrid cars had consumers stepping back unsure; but today hybrids offer a practical choice for consumers, and more and more consumers are jumping on board.

A hybrid car has a small engine that is fuel efficient, which is combined with an electric motor that aids the engine when additional power is needed during acceleration. The electric motor gets its power from battery banks which continuously charge while you are driving.

Energy is conserved when you stop because the engine is shut off automatically. Then, when you apply gas, it automatically restarts.

The hybrid car also uses a more advanced aerodynamic lightweight body, and combines it with low roll resistant tires that are stiffer and narrower to help reduce drag.

In 2004, out of the 17 million vehicles sold there were around 80,000 hybrid vehicles sold. By 2005 that number had increased by 1.2% to 200,000, and its estimated that by 2007 more than 400,000 hybrids will be sold.

There are several hybrids currently available in North America. They include the Honda Civic, Honda Accord, Honda Insight, Toyota Prius, and the Mercury Mariner. There are also Hybrid SUVs available – the Ford Escape, the Lexas 400H and the Toyota Highlander.

The Toyota Prius holds 52% of the hybrid market with just under 108,000 vehicles. The Honda Civic is the next most popular with 25,000 vehicles.

Now that consumer support for the hybrids has arrived, auto manufacturers are increasing the pace at which they introduce hybrid models. In 2006, the Honda CR V SUV, Saturn Vue, Hyundai Accent, and Kia Rio are being introduced as hybrid models. In 2007 we will see the Toyota Camry, Honda Fit, Mazda Tribute, Chevrolet Malibu, and Nissan Altima; and 2008 will see the Ford Fusion and Mercury Millan available as hybrids.

And as an added bonus in the United States, consumers that purchase a hybrid will get a tax break. Those purchasing fuel-cell vehicles will get up to 8000 in tax breaks, and those purchasing alternative fuel vehicles that weigh less than 8,500 pounds get a 2500 tax break. Its a nice pleasant surprise!

If we had a crystal ball that could see into the future, theres a good chance that what wed see 20 years down the road would be freeways, highways, and streets that were full of hybrid vehicles. In fact, its likely that our gas guzzling vehicles of today are about to go the way of the dinosaur as more hybrid cars make it to market.
